KET’s Schools of Management’s Learning Resource Centre in association with BKC Knowledge Network organises an International Webinar by Dr. Janice Fernandes on Librarianship and Beyond: Stories from the UK.
KET’s Schools of Management’s Learning Resource Centre in association with BKC Knowledge Network organised a very insightful and informative webinar by Dr Janice Fernandes, Academic Support Manager and Subject Librarian, LCM University of West London, UK, on the intricacies of being a Librarian. The webinar began with an introduction by Prof. P K Mishra, who very aptly spoke about the significant role of a librarian, as the custodian of one of the most important resources, in an organisation or institution. While Dr Fernandes shared the role played by a librarian, she also highlighted the varied types of libraries and librarians, on the basis of what resources they handle. Apart from elaborating on the free and paid databases, resources and knowledge sets, that librarians can avail of, Dr Fernandes also spoke through personal experience, about the 5 key lessons that she has learnt from being a librarian. The audience that comprised over 100 participants, including academicians and librarians, felt both enthralled and enlightened, with the knowledge and experience that was shared. Furthermore, Dr Fernandes touched upon varied initiatives that a librarian could take, to engage and stimulate the interests of their readers. A joint effort of the Library Committee, Marketing and IT Teams, the webinar was full of thought provoking and innovative ideas, and provided a lot of food for thought, for new areas of research and individual and institutional development.
